Dress like Olivia Pope!

Hey Fashionistas and Fashionistos,

I’m a huge Scandal fan and not just for the show, but the fashion as well. I look forward to seeing what Olivia Pope is wearing each episode. I’d always think about purchasing similar items she would wear, especially her coats or jackets. I know there are many that feel the same. Well The Limited has teamed up with Scandal’s costume designer Lyn Paolo and Kerry Washington to create a collection. The inspired Scandal collection will hit stores this fall. I can't wait!! Check out the full details on The Limited website.

Phavorite Phashion Movies

Hey Fashionistas and Fashionistos,

What’s your favorite fashion movie? I know mine are Clueless and The Devil Wears Prada. I watch them every time they come on television. As you may know, Clueless came out in the 1990s. It’s about a rich and popular high school girl who tries to make the new girl a part of her clique. On the other hand, The Devil Wears Prada came out in 2006. It’s about a girl who becomes an assistant for a magazine editor, who is very blunt. Clueless gives you this glamorous take on fashion in high school, and The Devil Wears Prada gives you an idea of how things are in the fashion world.

What is your favorite fashion movie?

Style Icon

Hey Fashionistas and Fashionistos,

Have you ever heard of Twiggy? I discovered Twiggy when she became a judge on America's Next Top Model. She's one of the biggest style icons of the fashion world. Twiggy is a London fashion supermodel from the 1960s. Her mod look took the fashion world by storm. She was on numerous fashion magazines, such as Vogue, Seventeen, and Elle. She even had her own Barbie doll. As her career continued she had other merchandise and also started her own clothing line. Her look was so popular that fans wanted to copy her style. Her look is still iconic til this day.

Look of the week!

Hey Fashionistas and Fashionistos,

If you've been following Beyoncé on Instagram lately, then you know she’s been posting pictures of her while on tour. I’m loving this printed two piece ensemble, and the hat tops it off as an added accessory.

Celebrity Stylist Extraordinaire

June Ambrose: Celebrity Stylist

I discovered June Ambrose when VH1 showed her reality show Styled by June a couple years ago. Throughout her career she has styled some of the biggest celebrities such as Will Smith, Diddy, Jay Z, Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott and more. I was so excited to see a woman of my color doing really great things in the field I am pursuing. Since then I have been a big fan of hers. I follow her on social media. On her Instagram (@juneambrose) she makes posts quite often of her working, spending time with her family, and daily inspirational quotes. She seems really energetic and full of life. I can definitely tell that she enjoys what she does. I aspire to have a career doing what I love and she is a great example.

Also, I know she does a lot her work in NYC and she tends to post pictures of where she is. I remember last summer when a few friends and I went to New York for a few days, and I was hoping I would run into her. I didn't get to, but it was exciting knowing that it was possible. I hope I receive the privilege of working with her one day. Until then I will take notes, work hard, and as June Ambrose would say, “DREAM WITH YOUR EYES OPEN!”

XOXO,

Phyllis ♥
